Height
I’ve noticed that several people’s children end up taller than their parents. People say that is common. It seems to me, however, that it must go in cycles, because otherwise we’d all be ten feet tall (or more)… don’t you think?
Meanwhile, back on his home planet, Forno, in the town of Ziti, Biff's best friend Neal Parmesan sat in his comfortable recliner, watching the news. His phone began to vibrate, the first notes of the popular song "Lasagna" sounding tinnily through the room. Grabbing the device, he wiped the screen [...]
Read MoreI asked my kids for words... they gave me the following: word, chivalrous, peanut butter, Yoshi, pony So what follows is what I came up with from those words. The light brown pony, who was just about the same color as peanut butter, stood chewing calmly by the fence as [...]

May God bless you as you celebrate the birth of His Son, Whom He sent to live as a man and die a sinless sacrifice for our sins – and Who then rose again and sits by the right hand of the Father! Bless the Lord!
You know, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I hear people say, “I really like This Candidate… his platform is great, his stand on these issues match mine… he’s an ideal candidate! BUT… This Candidate doesn’t have a chance of winning, so I’m voting for Popular Candidate instead.” If EVERYONE I’ve heard say that would vote for […]
How many children do you have / homeschool? I have five children. The youngest is only 2, so while he is, technically, always learning (just like most homeschoolers!), he isn’t considered one of the school-age children yet. How long have you been homeschooling? I have been homeschooling my children all their lives. My oldest is 14.5. Have they always been […]
Parents Magazine is having a giveaway! Check it out!
When I was in school, we did all sorts of reports and stuff. My kids haven’t done a lot of that sort of thing, and don’t care to. My husband said he didn’t when he was in school. I wonder what is the more common experience?
Well, I haven’t started out this month on a very good note. Between bank account issues and child-training issues and DOG-training issues and personal stuff, I’ve been a depressed and unpleasant person with which to live. Had one of those weekends where I’d’ve liked nothing better than to abdicate. But, since that wouldn’t solve anything, I’ve stuck it out. Such […]
“Penguin, James Penguin” by Brad Paisley. If you haven’t heard it, and if you don’t mind ‘silly’ songs – this is so cute! “Penguin, James Penguin, that dapper little guy…”
It’s weird. Most years, people write the previous year on paperwork for weeks, if not months. But I’ve seen more than just me trying to put “2008” on stuff for several weeks now! I wonder why we’re so eager to get to 2008?
You Are a Gingerbread House A little spicy and a little sweet, anyone would like to be lost in the woods with you. What Holiday Food Are You?
To our children. For excellence. I only hope they earn it!
Beside the food, which will be ready tomorrow, and the housecleaning, which is in progress… we were challenged by our pastor to make a list of things for which we are thankful. It would take WAY too long to do a totally comprehensive list, but I will name a sampling: My family – past, present, and future (parents, spouse, children) […]
We were taking a trip – a tour – on a train. We pulled into a beach town, where the train stopped briefly. We asked the driver if we could get off here and explore a bit, and catch the train again when it came back through (and how long would that be?) and the driver shrugged and said, Sure, […]
for the first time in years … but I really like this one!
Didn’t matter to me, but Rae is delighted, and John Luke is spellbound…
Me, either. This guy makes some GREAT points… about Christmas and holidays!
Today is the children’s 6-month dental cleaning/checkup. I hope it all goes well so we won’t have a bunch more appointments! JL is also having his first dental appointment; I hope it goes well, too, even though I know he will need work.
I like dreams (most of the time). One can do things in dreams that are impossible in real life. One can experience things in dreams that are unlikely or impossible in real life. Yeah, they’re unrealistic. Yes, they don’t always make sense. Nevertheless… I like ’em.
We went to our friends’ house in Cleveland, TN this evening. She had a baby 12 weeks ago – he was 5#8 at birth, so about the size of one of my newborns *now*… and I got to hold him, and feed him (she bottle feeds), and cuddle him and rock him…
