Our newest daughter, Sarah, was born 3/27 at 5:19pm. She weighed in at 10 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 22″ long. We are delighted with her!
You can see pictures in the gallery and on her page
I had a dr appt today (see Sarah’s page), after six hours of 4-minutes-apart contractions… with no real progress.
I comfort myself that I can at least get more done around here, and it won’t be more than four more weeks, for sure!
We had an ultrasound – baby is a GIRL!! Pictures available on her page: http://dpenguin.com/family/7.php

We are rejoicing in a living baby with a healthy heartbeat!
I know that line faintness isn’t a real indicator. Or so they say. Nevertheless… I had to try again, and today’s test (not even first thing in the morning) was quite a bit darker than the one from two days ago… so I feel a little better about that.
Nate (our 8yo) has been telling everyone who’ll listen! Needless to say, he’s very excited. My friends at church are all thrilled! I love that we have such supportive surroundings!
I wasn’t expecting a positive yesterday. I (perhaps foolishly?) took another test this morning and the positive line, while still there, was even fainter than yesterday. I’m trying not to stress about it… but it’s difficult. Especially since my husband is nervous, too. We are both hyper-alert about possible signs/symptoms of something going wrong.
If you don’t mind praying for us, we would much appreciate it! For things to be ok, for peace, for our ability to rest in God’s plan, whether it is to hold this baby alive in 8 months or not.
Thanks be to God! He has blessed us again with a blessing due March 26
We went to our friends’ house in Cleveland, TN this evening. She had a baby 12 weeks ago – he was 5#8 at birth, so about the size of one of my newborns *now*… and I got to hold him, and feed him (she bottle feeds), and cuddle him and rock him…
This is what David was buried in. The lady who knitted it had a photo she emailed to me, and I am very thankful to her for it!

The very beautiful story that goes with it (as told by the lady who knitted it) is as follows:
“The cream pouch was the smallest of the ones I have made because I only had a small amount of the yarn. I was sent a sample of 100% spun silk from “Sarah’s yarns”. I thought it was one of the softest and loveliest fibers I have worked with. I could not think of anything softer to put against a tiny baby’s fragile skin and it seemed that if a mother was only going to be able to wrap her baby up one time, it should be in one of the softest and most luxurious fibers God makes and I could not think of a more deserving project that for a child living in heaven. So I made the pouch with every bit of the silk yarn I had, and that is the size it came to. I guess God knew just how much silk I would need.”
Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
David Mathew was born at 12:46pm today.
“I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” 2 Samuel 12:23
At Wedesday’s doctor appointment, my doctor was unable to find a heartbeat. He sent me next door to the hospital for an ultrasound and they were also unable to find a heartbeat and, though I was at 15 weeks, baby measured 14 weeks.

Baby measured 11 weeks, and heartbeat was 171
I’m still feeling “normal”… none of the usual aversions (yet). Interestingly, the only other pregnancy where I cannot recall having aversions was Rachel….
I haven’t made an appointment with my OB yet, but probably should before too much longer.
At two days before 10 months old, John Luke is toddling around the living room without holding on! He’s so cute!
Yes, at 4 months, we have already allowed the baby a taste of big-people food. We were having rice, and since rice is one of the things that they recommend starting a baby on because it is unlikely to be an allergen, we gave him some on his high chair tray. It kept him quiet the whole meal! He got very little IN his mouth, but he had a great time trying!

I can hardly believe it. At 3.5 months, he can reach the ground in his walker and actually MOVE it a little! He is such a delight! He reaches for his toys now and plays with what he can grasp. He loves bead-mover type toys.

I cleaned up the walker Nate used and put John Luke in it… his feet don’t touch the floor, but he’s so cute!
