“Evaporated Cane Juice”

Now, I admit I have done no actual research on this at this time, but just off the top of my head…

I saw somewhere someone touting “evaporated cane juice” as a “healthier” substitute for sugar.

Now, correct me if I’m wrong.

Sugar comes from sugar cane. This other thing, “evaporated cane juice” – would be… sugar cane juice, evaporated? So, like… SUGAR??

  1. Yes. And no.

The difference they’re driving at is that “evaporated cane juice” is less processed. It’s not washed and purified and etc – so theoretically it retains some of the vitamins, minerals, and what-not that would be present if you chewed a cane of sugar. So it’s maybe a little healthier, maybe a little less refined.

But, in essence, those things are *negligible* so, yeah. It’s sugar.
