Remember way back when, when calling directory assistance was free? Well, now it seems we can go back to enjoying free 411 calls, at least until some big corporation messes it up for us. The service, from startup Jingle Networks, can be reached at 1-800-FREE-411.
This week I’m avoiding sugar. With Nate’s birthday Thursday and party Friday and the weekend… I ate way too much and ended up miserable. That never *used* to happen when I ate sugar. Guess I’m getting old! So, trying to even things out, I’m not eating it this week (M-F). ‘Tain’t easy, McGee. So far, so good though. No sugar intake on Monday. None today so far. It’s hard, but worth it.
Saturday, at the local indoor pool. It was great fun! We hope to go again.

How can 6 years go so fast?!
I cleaned up the walker Nate used and put John Luke in it… his feet don’t touch the floor, but he’s so cute!

We didn’t see Mrs. Hamster for a couple days (she was hiding in her can)… and then when she came out yesterday to drink water, we decided to check things out, and gently dumped the can… only to find no babies. I still don’t know for sure how many there *were*.
I got a clean bill of health … PLUS, in the last four weeks, I’ve lost ELEVEN POUNDS! Woohoo!!
We have baby hamsters! I’m not sure yet how many, as she is up in a coffee can with them.

You scored as Maximus. After his family was murdered by the evil emperor Commodus, the great Roman general Maximus went into hiding to avoid Commodus’s assassins. He became a gladiator, hoping to dominate the colosseum in order to one day get the chance of killing Commodus. Maximus is valiant, courageous, and dedicated. He wants nothing more than the chance to avenge his family, but his temper often gets the better of him.

MISUSED PHRASE: THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING
CORRECT PHRASE: The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
The misused version is utter nonsense, while the original, proper form makes sense. You will know if the pudding is good when you eat it, and equally one will know if the item/situation is proper when one is using/involved in it.
MISUSED PHRASE: COULD CARE LESS
CORRECT PHRASE: Couldn’t care less
If you *could* care less about something, it means you *do* care about it. If you *couldn’t* care less about it, then you don’t care at all.
MISUSED PHRASE: UP AND ADAM
CORRECT PHRASE: Up and at ‘em
Again, the former makes no sense, while the latter does. With “‘em” of course being a contraction of “them.”
MISUSED PHRASE: ONCE AND AWHILE
CORRECT PHRASE: Once in a while
Every now and then. The conjunction “and” does not fit in the above phrase. The phrase refers to something that happens once in a given, limited (but unspecified) period of time (“while”).
I’m sure there are more, but these are the ones that came to mind at the moment. This might become a regular feature of this blog!
Robby got me a Moses basket for John Luke (see photo below)… I officially LOVE IT! Tonight he fell asleep on my lap; I laid him in the basket where he continued sleeping; and when I headed for bed, I picked up the whole basket, carried it to my room, and set it in the bassinet, with nary a peep from John Luke!
