Sarah's cardiologist appointment went very well! The dr was a nice American with a sense of humor (always a good thing!). He did an ultrasound on her heart; the "noise" was where her arteries are "T" shaped (it's more "Y" shaped in bigger people) and that makes the blood rush more, thus making more noise. He said it will adjust as she grows, and he won't be seeing us again.

Two-week checkup: 22.5" tall and 11#2oz - she's doing great! However, she has a heart murmur (unlikely to be a problem) and they have set up a cardiologist appt for her for Friday.

40 week checkup: Blood pressure 116/70, heartrate good, she estimates 9.5# (which is what I was figuring, too).... I caved... if labor doesn't start itself today or tomorrow, we go in tomorrow night and they'll break my water Fri morning and add pit later on *if necessary* .... so Sarah will be here by the weekend.

39 week checkup: Blood pressure 127/70. Dilation: 3cm. Weight stayed the same. Dr asked if we had any questions. Nope. On his way out the door, when he was *almost gone* - after I'd said, "See you next week," he paused and turned back, replying "unless you want us to help you along..." LOL! He knows from John Luke that we prefer less intervention instead of more, so he pretty much knew we weren't going to opt for induction unless it's necessary. I told him we might think about that NEXT week (since I'm due next week!)

March 11, 2009

38 week checkup: Blood pressure 140/70 - probably elevated due to being up most of the night with contractions (starting around 3am, every 4 minutes for several hours!!). Heartbeat good. Regained the 2# I lost last week (13# total gain). She said Sarah is "still big" LOL - like she's going to shrink?? Dilation "nearly 3" - which was just a little discouraging after all the contractions, but I do have a bit left to do before I'm ready to just sit around with a new baby, so I guess that's ok!

March 4, 2009

37 week checkup: Blood pressure 122/70. Heartbeat good. LOST 2# (11# total gain - woot!). She guesses that Sarah is around 8 pounds - I told her that was about right and she kind of laughed at me. Still dilated 2cm (no change), which is normal, too. So, all-in-all, pretty much what I expected.

36 week photo:

February 25, 2009

36 week checkup: Blood pressure 120/70. Heartbeat good. Gained 1# (total gained so far: 13#). Dr said ultrasound estimated her at 6.5 to 7 pounds (so they are guessing less than what the tech told me, which is good, because they're less likely to want extra interventions). GBS came back positive (which doesn't surprise me, since I tested GBS+ with Rachel). Dilated 2cm (which doesn't really mean anything for ME... I generally walk around at 2cm for a while). Still, progress is progress, right?

35 week checkup: Blood pressure 112/70. Heartbeat good. Baby is head-down and while not quite engaged, she is hanging out very low and when she checked my cervix, she could feel her head. She said no dilation yet. She was still concerned about size (measuring 38 weeks at 35 weeks - not very MUCH big, especially for ME) so she sent us over for an ultrasound. Pictures from that will be scanned whenever we get a scanner plugged back in. I ended up lying on my left side for most of the ultrasound, since lying on my back caused me to get dizzy and nearly pass out. While I've heard that can happen, this is the first time I've ever experienced it. The ultrasound estimates her at about 7.5 pounds, which is actually right-on for one of MY babies at 35 weeks, so I'm not concerned.

Next appointment in a week!

34 weeks!

February 4, 2009

33 week checkup: Sarah's heartbeat sounded good. She thought she might still be "measuring big for dates" (but then, I don't normally have "average" 7-pound babies, anyway). My bp was 110/70. Gained 2#. Next appointment in two weeks, then we go to every week!

January 29, 2009

32 weeks :)

January 21, 2009

31 week checkup: Sarah's heartbeat 145-150, my bp 102/60 (again). Gained 1#. She said measuring about right "maybe even a bit big" and admonished to "watch the sugar" (I think I always measure bigger than dates at the end, though... and just because my uterus measures bigger, doesn't necessarily mean SARAH is bigger, right?).

January 7, 2009

29 week checkup: Everything looks ok - Sarah's heartbeat is in the 150s. My bp was 102/60. She said my glucose result was 141 (top was 140 so that's technically failing) but since I've failed the one-hour EVERY TIME and passed the three-hour, she said she wasn't going to make me do the 3-hr (for which I am very grateful!). My iron was low so I have supplements again (been on 'em off and on since I was 12... that didn't surprise me LOL). Starting every-two-weeks appointments!!

December 19, 2008

26 week checkup; all's well. Blood pressure was 102/60 I think and weight was up 3# from last month. Next appt is in THREE weeks, then going to TWO week appts after that! Wow. Sarah's heartbeat was healthy and around 150, and she's about the right size for her age. When we left the dr's office, we went over to the hospital for the obligatory glucose tolerance test. I'm not sure when I'll know the results of that; it probably depends on what the results ARE. The lab lady talked like I'd be back next week for the 3-hour if I failed the one-hour today. I'll be very surprised if I DIDN'T fail it, as I have failed the one-hour with every previous child.

25 weeks!

November 19, 2008

Regular appointment today! Sarah is moving well and has a healthy heartbeat around 160. My bp was 110/60 and weight was up 5# from last month (231 today). I'm sure I've been eating too much junk food - time to cut back on that!!!

November 5, 2008

Ultrasound today!! Baby's heartbeat is 153; very healthy; measured right on schedule.

October 22, 2008

Regular appointment this morning. We heard the heartbeat... baby does NOT like to be pushed! Every time she got in there good, baby moved away. I knew that, since I've found one sure way to make baby move is to push on my belly firmly - baby DOES NOT like being pushed! My bp was 112/66. Weight: 226 :) Turned out, btw, that the kidney thing was a stone, which I passed last Thursday. Ultrasound appointment is November 5, and next regular appointment is November 19.

September 24, 2008

Regular appointment this morning. We heard a good, healthy heartbeat! She didn't give a count - we listened for a second and then the baby moved away. My bp was 110/70. Weight: 227 (same as last time). I asked about UTI/kidney infection (as I have been dealing with something recently) and she said my urine looked clear so either it wasn't, or else it cleared up with the water/cranberry and they recommended continuing the cranberry. All in all, a good visit :D

Next appt is Oct 22, and he said we'll plan an u/s after that :)

August 25, 2008

Regular appointment this morning. Since I'm only about 10 weeks, she was unable to find the baby to get a heartbeat with the doppler (you figure she's looking for a 2cm spot in my overweight middle!) but wasn't concerned. I got a prescription for prenatals (I was trying to do the Rainbow Light prenatals, but they are 6-a-day and I was NOT getting them down, so I figured one a day I *WOULD* take would be better than 6-a-day that I won't) and I go back in 4 weeks. My blood pressure was great (120/70) and everything else looked normal.

We did discuss whether he thought blood clots were something we needed to be concerned about, and he didn't seem to think it was, particularly, but said that if I felt I needed to, I could take a baby aspirin a day, and we'd re-evaluate in the 3rd trimester.

August 15, 2008

Ultrasound today "to check dates"... got to hear the precious little heartbeat - mid-190s - and got to see the little (1.8cm) baby.

August 1, 2008

Had an appointment with my doctor today. I saw his assistant (who, honestly, I prefer to see at regular appointments) and everything looks fine so far. Blood pressure 100/70. Weight 229. She said all the bloodwork came back just fine. I asked about the progesterone and she said she didn't think it was important (but since I'm already on it, I'm not stopping yet, based on advice from dear friends). She set me up an appointment for another ultrasound in two weeks (8/15/08) and my next appointment is 8/25/08.

July 28, 2008

Met with our "care coordinator" this morning. She's a really nice lady. She set up my first OB appt Friday at 9am.... and I went to the hospital this morning for the lab work (*eight* vials of blood!). They did an ultrasound - ended up doing a transvaginal since it's so early. Appears baby spot is where it should be... no heartbeat yet because it's too early (I think she may have *seen* one but the recording equipment couldn't pick it up)... they don't really expect to hear it until 6 weeks, and I'm only 5 weeks. I told her I've never had an ultrasound this early before, since we usually don't come in until later. They said all the test results should be back by Wednesday at the latest, so my doctor will likely have them all on Friday when we go in.

Today we got a positive pregnancy test! Woo-hoo!! Thank you, Lord!!!
