1 6-8 pound whole chicken
dried basil, seasoned salt, garlic powder and pepper

I just place the chicken in the crock pot (breast up) and season it *heavily* inside and out with the basil, seasoned salt, garlic powder and pepper. Pop the lid on and cook it on low for about 8 hours. It is FALL off the bone tender, tastes so delicious and it makes this incredible broth. When we've finished eating the sliced meat, I pull off the rest of the meat, add the broth to it (with the fat skimmed off) and freeze it. Then I have fabulous homemade broth and meat for chicken noodle soup later.)
