Taco Braid

2 loaves of frozen bread dough (or make your own)
1 to 1 and 1/2 lbs ground beef
one packet taco seasoning
one cup (more or less) shredded cheddar cheese
sour cream
salsa

Thaw frozen bread dough according to directions.
Press or roll out flat onto 2 greased cookie sheets.
Brown ground beef and drain; add taco seasoning and simmer according to packet directions.
Spread half of meat mixture down the center only of each loaf of bread dough.
Sprinkle each with half the cheese.
With a sharp knife, slash edges of bread dough into thin strips,(sort of like fringe on blanket, only not so thin).
Starting at one end, pull one strip of dough over meat and cheese, and press down on opposite side of loaf. Repeat, alternating sides, so it looks like a "braid".
Pinch end closed.
Allow to rise for 30-40 minutes.
Brush with beaten egg and bake for 30-40 minutes at 375 degrees.
Serve with sour cream and salsa.
We like a tossed salad with this.

(hope this recipe makes sense...I never wrote it out before! :lol ) You can also do this with pepperoni and mozzerella for Pepperoni Braid.
