this is just an estimate of what I do - add more water as needed druing
the cooking process. Since I made larger portions, I start it in my
cast iron skillet and move it to a large pot when it's time to add the
spaghetti. We like it with a little bite so we add the red pepper. If
it is too juicy once the spaghetti is cooked, you can leave the lid
off, stirring frequently until it is the consistency you prefer. 1 Lb hamburger 2 Tsp chili powder 3 1/2 Cup water 1 1/2 Tsp oregano 1 Tsp sugar 1 Tsp salt 1 Can tomato paste 2 Can tomato sauce 1/2 Tsp basil 2 Tbl minced onion 1-2 crushed garlic cloves 1 Can drained mushrooms 1 Can stewed tomatoes red pepper to taste if desired 1 Pkg uncooked spaghetti, broken in pieces
Cook and stir hamburger, minced onion, and garlic in skillet. Drain.
Stir in tomatoes, mushrooms, salt, sugar, chili powder, oregano, basil,
tomato paste, tomato sauce and water. Break up tomatos with fork. Heat
to boiling, add spaghetti, Stir to seperate strands, bring back to boil
and reduce heat. Cover and simmer, stirring frequently, until spaghetti
is tender, about 30 minutes. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Serve with
garlic bread. |
