David’s ‘clothes’

This is what David was buried in. The lady who knitted it had a photo she emailed to me, and I am very thankful to her for it!

David's graveclothes

The very beautiful story that goes with it (as told by the lady who knitted it) is as follows:

“The cream pouch was the smallest of the ones I have made because I only had a small amount of the yarn. I was sent a sample of 100% spun silk from “Sarah’s yarns”. I thought it was one of the softest and loveliest fibers I have worked with. I could not think of anything softer to put against a tiny baby’s fragile skin and it seemed that if a mother was only going to be able to wrap her baby up one time, it should be in one of the softest and most luxurious fibers God makes and I could not think of a more deserving project that for a child living in heaven. So I made the pouch with every bit of the silk yarn I had, and that is the size it came to. I guess God knew just how much silk I would need.”
